Most dishes are traditional so if you have a basic knowledge of carbohydrates they are easy enough to figure out.
What I had (as described on the menu):
Cantonese style chicken stir fry with oriental vegetables. Served with rice or french fries.
Ease of figuring carbs: 3
(1 – 10, 1 being easy and 10 being hard to know how many carbs are in the dish)
- The chicken and vegetables were cooked in a stir fry sauce. I estimated that it contained 15g of carbohydrate. I find these type of sauces affect my blood glucose levels a lot, but this may not be the case for all diabetics.
- The rice contained approximately 30g of carbohydrate. If I had chosen the chips instead of rice they would have contained approximately 40g of carbohydrate.
- I added 5g of carbohydrate for the vegetables. The bean sprouts are almost carb free. Chicken is also carb free.
- Total carbohydrates for the meal = 50g
Food rating (taste and presentation): 6/10
